Yankee Stadium August 16, 1951 by Bill Walton Oil ~ 32 x 68

Mickey Mantle is lead-off batter for the Yankees, facing one of baseball's great pitchers, Cleveland's ace Bob Feller. This was Mickey's first at bat after being called up from the minors. This is the first game Mickey wore his famous number 7 - he wore number 6 before being sent down earlier in the season. The Cleveland players shown besides Bob Feller are catcher Jim Hegan, 3rd baseman Al Rosen, shortstop Ray Boone, 2nd baseman Bobby Avila. The outfielders were Dale Mitchell in left field; Larry Doby in centerfield.
